The Grand Harbour lies beneath Valletta and the Three Cities of Cospicua, Vittoriosa and Senglea.
It is one of the largest natural harbour in the Mediterranean.
Malta’s history is intimately associated with the history of the Grand Harbour and as it was developed and modernised during the ages. Built by the Knights of St John, the harbour is lined up with fortifications which overlook quays serving cruise liners, yachts and commercial vessels.
